π± Hasbro CEO Dies At 58 + Overdose Prevention Kit Grant

- Brian David Goldberg, the long-time chief executive officer and chairman of Hasbro, died at the age of 58. The CEO of the Pawtucket-based company led Hasbro's transformation from a toys and games distributor into a global television, movies, digital gaming, and entertainment powerhouse. He passed away two days after stepping down from his position to take a medical leave. (Providence Business Journal)
- The Rhode Island Foundation is providing a $250,000 grant to purchase thousands of opioid overdose prevention kits until a more sustainable source of state funding is in place. The grant announced recently that the University of Rhode Island will enable the Community First Responder Program to purchase approximately 3,000 Narcan kits for distribution to community-based recovery and harm reduction organizations across the state. Authorities say there is a critical need for the kits, especially as drug overdoses continue to rise. (NBC10 Boston)
- Three Pawtucket high schools have some big games on the docket for this week. The varsity football teams of Saint Raphael Academy Saints, Shea High School Raiders, and Tolman High School Tigers are all slated for local matches this coming Friday.
