The town of Johnston has just signed a tax agreement with Amazon wherein the town will receive more than $170 million in tax dollars and additional benefits over two decades from a new proposed Amazon facility. The e-commerce giant will be building a six-story, 3,864,972 square-foot "new, state-of-the-art Amazon Robotics Sortable Fulfillment Center." In its first 10 years of operation, Amazon has also pledged to spend up to $90,000 a year on RIPTA bus passes for its employees who commute from Rhode Island's urban center, including Pawtucket.   2. Pawtucket animal lovers have an opportunity to adopt cats, dogs, birds, and rabbits in need. According to Petfinder, these adorable animals are available through local shelters. (Patch Pawtucket)
  3. Police have made an arrest in the investigation of a shooting outside a Providence nightclub last month. Ahmad Crowell, 31, is charged with the death of Daniel Zairis, 24. Zaris was shot and killed in the early morning hours of Aug. 28 outside the Revel Lounge. (Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7News)
  4. A special House commission in Providence began making plans to reorganize the controversy-ridden Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) during the inaugural meeting of its 15-member commission. (ecoRInews)
