Here are the top stories in Pawtucket and neighboring communities today:
- Pawtucket police are investigating a possible illegal marijuana operation at the former site of the Gamm Theatre located in the Pawtucket Armory Complex. The Gamm Theatre moved its location to Warwick in 2017. (GoLocalProv)
- The Heritage Alliance of Pawtucket, formerly known as the Preservation Society of Pawtucket, has changed its name and its mission. The organization is also developing new programs to better represent the heritage of the city. Two of these new programs include the Oral History Project and a Neighborhood Heritage Series, which will offer activities over the course of several months to a year and highlighting different neighborhoods in Pawtucket. - Another nine miles of Pawtucket streets are going to be repaved, with three of them scheduled to be repaved in the fall, while the other six miles are scheduled to be done in the spring. This is in addition to the 123 miles of roadways that have been repaved since the start of the modern road paving program in Pawtucket. Mayor Donald Greiben has instituted a system, based on expert analysis, to ensure that the worst roads will be paved first. (Valley Breeze)
- Several movies and TV series are being filmed in Rhode Island this year, many of which are seeking to make up for lost time due to the pandemic. A representative has said that the state will greatly benefit from multiple projects being filmed in Rhode Island. Some of these projects include Hocus Pocus 2, Space Oddity, The Guilded Age HBO series, and Out of the Blue. (WPRI.com)
