Here are the top stories in Pawtucket today:
- Four out of five Rhode Island men currently facing federal drug charges have also been indicted in the June abduction of a Pawtucket mail carrier. The federal indictment charges Alijah Parsons, 29, Irving Medina, 31, and Andres Garay, 35, all of Providence, and Edgar Medina, 36, of Johnston, with aiding and abetting a kidnapping after the group abducted a local United States Postal Service worker at gunpoint. All four men, plus Ronald Hall, 39, of Providence, also face charges related to possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.(WPRI.com)
- A suspect has finally been arrested for the intentional fires set at multiple Pawtucket homes and businesses earlier this week. On Thursday, police have charged Helder Mendonca Cardoso, 25, of Pawtucket, with four counts of first-degree arson and one count of fourth-degree arson. He will be arraigned in Providence District Court. (WJAR)
- The Pawtucket Housing Authority is hosting a Shop Main Street event tomorrow, Nov. 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. Over two dozen participating shops and restaurants will be set up along the sidewalks on Downtown Main Street. RI Housing and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be presenting a rental assistance workshop, and the event will feature additional community resources, live music, and a public art demonstration.
