Here are the top stories today in Pawtucket:

  1. Fortuitous Partners is one step closer to breaking ground at Tidewater Landing. The Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council has granted its stamp of approval for the stadium portion of the project. The project's $63 million "Phase I-A" includes a pro soccer stadium, infrastructure, landscaping, and public access along the Seekonk River in Pawtucket. Ultimately, a $284 million Phase I project, including residential and commercial development, is planned for 25 acres along both sides of the river, but the Pawtucket City Planning Commission permitted the stadium portion to move ahead first.   2. The Pawtucket Police Department participated in National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday. The nationally recognized event provides an opportunity for Americans to help prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths. Pawtucket residents were encouraged to drop off unwanted, unused, and expired prescription drugs to the department for proper disposal. (Pawtucket Police Department)
  3. Brian A. Azar, president and CEO of Pawtucket Credit Union (PCU), recently announced promotions and new hires for the company. Kevin Farrell has joined PCU as senior vice president of commercial lending and mortgage originations.
