🌱 Low-Income Apartment Fire On Lonsdale + Mental Health Crisis

Here are the top 3 stories today in Pawtucket:

  1. One person is dead and at least six others have been hospitalized after a fire broke out at a low-income apartment complex in Pawtucket on Sunday afternoon. At least 15 ambulances responded to the Coats Manor apartment complex on Lonsdale Avenue, along with firefighters from Pawtucket, Central Falls, North Providence, Providence, and other nearby cities. The American Red Cross and emergency management are helping the 30 residents who have been displaced by the fire. (Turn to 10)
  2. A mental health crisis for children is hitting Southern New England and the Pawtucket area hard. The Center for Disease Control reports that there has been a 24 percent increase in mental health-related emergency room visits during the pandemic for children between the ages of five and eleven. Rhode Island Representative Joseph McNamara has sponsored two bills that hopefully will address the growing concern. (Turn to 10)
