Here are the top three stories today in Pawtucket:
- Rev. Francis C. Santilli, a priest from the Diocese of Providence, has been placed on administrative leave after allegations of sexual abuse of a minor. The event allegedly occurred approximately 40 years ago. Since 1988, Fr. Santilli had been assigned to two Pawtucket locations. He will not practice public ministry or reside on church property pending the investigation's outcome. (Fall River Reporter)
- Centers Health Care, the parent-company of three RI nursing homes, presented nonprofit Project Hand Up with a $2,500 check in recognition of its role in assisting hundreds of Rhode Islanders weekly. Centers Health Care supports communities all over the northeast, including nursing facilities Bannister Center in Providence, Oak Hill Center in Pawtucket and Kingston Center in South Kingstown. Centers is celebrating 25 years by donating checks to charities in each region where it operates. (RICentral.com)
- The Community Players' world premiere of A Tree Falls In Brookline opens on February 18th at the Jenks Auditorium on Division Street. - The Pawtucket Police Department reminds residents on how to stay safe in the winter weather. Quick changes in precipitation call for extreme caution. Try not to drive in sleet or freezing rain, and if you have to, allow ample time to slow down. (Facebook)
- The Pawtucket Public Library is holding a mattress and e-waste collection today from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the parking lot across from City Hall. Collections occur on the first Saturday of every month. (Facebook)
- The Pawtucket School District is hosting vaccination clinics at Joseph Jenks Middle School from 10 AM - 2 PM on Sunday. First, second and booster doses of Pfizer, Moderna and J&J will be available for those ages 5 and older; flu shots are also available. (Facebook)
