🌱 Crash On I-195 East + RI's History Of Olympic Athletes

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Pawtucket.

Morning, neighbors! It's me again, Nicole Fallon-Peek, your host of the Pawtucket Daily.

First, today's weather:

Colder; breezy in the morning. High: 30 Low: 16.

Here are the top two stories in Pawtucket today:

  1. Pawtucket drivers may have noticed a delay if they were traveling through Providence on Monday afternoon. A car went crashing off I-195 East into a neighborhood street in East Providence around 3:00 PM. There were two minors in the car; neither was injured. The crash caused slight delays but has since been cleared. (ABC 6)
  2. As the XXIV Olympic Winter Games get closer and closer, What's Up Newp compiled a list of athletes who have represented Rhode Island in the Olympics of years past. In 1960, Pawtucket's own Dudley "Dud" Shaw Richards competed as an ice skater in the Squaw Valley Winter Olympics. Another athlete, Geoffrey T. Mason of the 1928 men's bobsled team at St. Moritz, worked as an executive at a Pawtucket steel company. (WUN)

Doing a "Dry January" or just looking for a flavorful alternative to regular cocktails? Here's a suggestion: try a non-alcoholic drink from our partners at Betera. Created by an award-winning chef from natural botanicals, Betera's drinks come in 3 flavors — Ginger-Orange, Elderflower-Lime and Rhubarb-Hibiscus. We tried Ginger-Orange, and it was excellent — lightly effervescent, floral with a hint of bitterness and the sippability of a cocktail.

Betera is offering readers of the Daily a 15% discount on their first order: use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — you can try Betera here.
