(Patch Media)

Hey, Pawtucket! Let's get you all caught up to start this day off on an informed note. Here are the most important things going on in Pawtucket today.

First, today's weather:

Partly sunny and not as cold. High: 44 Low: 28.

Here are the top stories today in Pawtucket:

  1. Say goodbye to paper tickets on Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) buses. Beginning Jan. 15, RIPTA will no longer accept paper fare products on buses, including monthly passes, day passes, seven-day passes, and 10-ride passes. Instead, passengers will need to pay using the Wave system's reloadable smart card or a new mobile app. Exact fare cash payments will still be accepted on buses, and passengers who still have paper fare products can exchange them for equal value on the Wave system. (WPRI.com)
  2. Searching for full- or part-time work in Pawtucket? There are plenty of local employers looking for help, including some with remote work opportunities. Right here in town, there are multiple customer service and truck driving jobs available, as well as some in sales and human resources. (Pawtucket Patch)
  3. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation warns residents to prepare for delays on I-195 for the next several years, thanks to the Washington Bridge renovation project. Lane shifts were implemented over the weekend, which backed up traffic for miles on Monday during both the morning and evening commutes. The $76 million project is expected to be completed by summer 2026. (WPRI.com)
