Morning, Pawtucket! Here's everything you need to know to get this Tuesday started off right.

First, today's weather:

Sunny to partly cloudy. High: 33 Low: 25.

Here are the top 3 stories today in and around Pawtucket:

  1. As of yesterday, Jan. 3, safe stations for those battling addiction are now operational at fire stations across Pawtucket. Residents who need help can enter a station to receive a health assessment from a member of the Pawtucket Fire Department, who will then call in a licensed mental health clinician to assist further. Each safe station will have harm reduction kits on hand for individuals who need them, says the City. (WJAR)
  2. If your child age 5 to 11 needs their COVID-19 vaccine, three pediatric vaccination clinics are coming up at locations throughout the city. The first is being held at Baldwin Elementary School today (Jan. 4) from 4 to 7 p.m. The next two will be at Cunningham Elementary School on Thursday, Jan. 6 from 4 to 7 p.m. and the Pawtucket Public Library on Tuesday, Jan. 11 from 5 to 7 p.m. Walk-ins are accepted at all three clinics, but you can also reserve an appointment at vaccinateri.org. (Pawtucket School Department)
  3. Rhode Island's largest nurses union, United Nurses and Allied Professionals (UNAP), says it is "unequivocally opposed" to the state's recently-announced decision to allow COVID-positive hospital staff to return to work. The new policy, which lets healthcare facilities bring back workers before they test negative in the event of a "staffing crisis," has raised concerns among union workers about exacerbating staff shortages and furthering the spread of COVID-19 to fellow staff and patients.
