Here are the top stories in Pawtucket today:
- Six stolen vehicles have been recovered recently thanks to new cameras installed throughout the city of Pawtucket. The Pawtucket Police Department currently operates 17 license plate recognition cameras from a company called Flock Safety. Within the last 30 days, they have had a vehicle or plate registered on a national or state crime database pass the cameras 1,836 times, triggering alerts to the agency. (Valley Breeze)
- Blackstone Valley Community Health Care is one of eight Rhode Island health care facilities that will be dividing $6.1 million in funding from the American Rescue Plan. The Pawtucket health center is set to receive $734,663, which will support the improvement of primary care infrastructure, advance health equity, and promote better health outcomes in medically underserved communities. - Pawtucket school officials are looking into potential hiring policy changes after a qualified candidate for an open school position failed to hear back about his application until the position had already been filled. The anonymous Pawtucket resident, a former city school employee, believes he should have received an interview, based on the current city policy which calls for all qualified applicants to be interviewed. - Behavioral Health Group (BHG), the largest network of Joint Commission-accredited outpatient opioid treatment and recovery, will be expanding its Rhode Island footprint beyond its existing Pawtucket Treatment Center. BHG recently acquired of all four opioid treatment programs owned by The Journey to Hope, Health & Healing, located in Providence, Westerly, Johnston, and Middletown. (inForney)
