  1. The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) announced Rhode Island's first human case of West Nile Virus in 2021. The person who tested positive was a resident of Providence County in their 50s who reported regular trips between Rhode Island and Massachusetts. West Nile Virus is spread to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. (onworldwide.com)
  2. A threat was made against the Johnston High School on Thursday morning. Chief Joseph Razza said a verbal threat was made around 8 a.m. Students went on lockdown and later dismissed, with officers walking students to their cars, by 10 a.m. A juvenile male was taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct.   3. 52-year-old patrol officer Rob Winsor joins the Jamestown Police Department. (Newport Daily News)
