Hey, Pawtucket! Here's everything you need to know to get this Friday started off right.
First, today's weather:
Rain becoming heavier; breezy. High: 65 Low: 42.
Here are the top stories today in Pawtucket:
- The usual warmth of the holiday season at Pawtucket's Slater Memorial Park will return this year with Winter Wonderland set to draw crowds once again. The famous "tree day" setup is planned for Dec. 2, two days before Winter Wonderland opens on Saturday, Dec. 4 with a 4 p.m. Santa parade inside the park. Visitors should note that fees have been raised from $30 to $40 as a result of supply chain shortages. Masks will only be required inside the carousel, as well as during a visit with Santa if guests are unvaccinated. (Valley Breeze)
- An applicant for a medical marijuana dispensary license in Rhode Island dropped its appeal against regulators, which will likely allow the stalled lottery for a retail license for Zone 6 to proceed. Three applicants initially qualified for the license, but two of them have since been disqualified because of zoning variances. The remaining Zone 6 applicant, Mother Earth Wellness, has proposed opening a dispensary in Pawtucket. (MJBizDaily)
- The Burbage Theatre Co is reopening for the first time in 18 months for its tenth season of live performances. The Rhode Island premiere of "Everybody" by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and directed by Logan Serabian, is running from Nov. 11 through Dec. 5 at the Wendy Overly Studio Theatre at 59 Blackstone Avenue, Pawtucket. No two performances of this production will be alike, as the cast will be randomly assigned their roles by lottery, with 120 unique combinations possible. (Broadway World)
- Two Pawtucket eateries, Rasoi and Modern Diner, have made Eater's list of the 33 "essential restaurants" to try in the Providence area. (Eater)
