29th Annual Scouting For Food Drive

Local Boy Scouts Walking Door to Door in your Neighborhood Saturday Morning, October 29th

This Saturday morning, October 29th, local Boy Scouts will be placing door hangers on neighborhood homes informing Aquidneck Island residents of Narragansett Council's 29th annual Scouting For Food Drive. Please place your donation of non-perishable, nutritious food in a bag or box with the tag attached on your doorstep the following Saturday, November 5th by 9am when scouts return to collect donations.

Food donations benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and local food pantries. Your donations feed more than 59,000 Rhode Islanders each month, one third of them children. According to the Rhode Island Food Bank (www.rifoodbank.org) the following items are in greatest need:

Peanut butter Whole wheat pasta

Tuna Brown rice

Canned & dried beans Boxed macaroni & cheese

Canned soups & stews Granola bars

Canned fruits & vegetables Tomato sauce

Breakfast cereals Extra virgin olive oil

Please only donate healthy, nutritious food that is in good condition and "in date." Foods in glass jars, homemade products and food past their expiration dates are not accepted.
