30 Safest Communities in RI: Do You Live in One?

Alarms.org released its list of 30 safest cities and towns in Rhode Island.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — Portsmouth came in third, but what happened to Jamestown? Alarms.org published the National Council for Home Safety and Security list of the 30 safest cities and towns in Rhode Island, and Conanicut Island, usually the survey bellweather for safe places, didn't make the list. Neither did Little Compton.

The list only includes cities with populations of more than 5,000 who submitted a crime report for the FBI Uniform Crime Report statistics. Those cities were then ranked based on the number of reported violent and property crimes, with violent crimes carrying more weight. The rankings were then adjusted to account for population.
