AAA: Gas Prices Drop Again, Remain $1 More Than Last Year

AAA Southern New England reports that gas remains $1.12 more than last year's price.

Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are dropping by a nickel, marking the fourth consecutive week of decreases, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA’s June 6 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.87 per gallon, falling five cents from last week.

The current price is one cent above the national average for regular unleaded of $3.88. A year ago at this time, Rhode Island’s average price was $2.75, $1.12 lower than today.

The range in prices in the latest local AAA survey for unleaded regular is 31 cents, from a low of $3.689 to a high of $3.999. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area, and to make sure they and their passengers buckle up — every time.
