Boy Scout Troop 82's Newest Eagle Scout

Boy Scout Troop 82, sponsored by Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, awarded Paul C. Matthews the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held on March 21, 2015.  Troop 82’s 131st Eagle Scout, Paul Matthews is the son of Paul and Carol Matthews of Tiverton.

Paul’s Eagle Scout Project benefits the Pardon Gray Preserve, 230 acres of protected farm and forest held by the Tiverton Land Trust.  Paul designed, built and installed two benches for visitors’ use.  Materials were donated by Sanford Tree Experts of Tiverton.

An active scout for the past 12 years starting as a Tiger cub, Paul has held numerous leadership positions in Troop 82 to include Patrol Leader, Chaplain’s Aide, Webmaster, Historian and Instructor.  An outstanding Boy Scout, Paul was elected to the Boy Scout’s Order of the Arrow and attended National Youth Leadership Training (also known as White Stag) in 2013. 

Outside of Boy Scouts, Paul Matthews is a senior at Tiverton High School.  He also plays lacrosse and is a Junior Zoo Keeper at Roger Williams Zoo.  Congratulations to Troop 82’
