Civil War Sanitary Commission is Lecture Topic

Gerry Burgess of Battery "B" to talk at Portsmouth Historical Society.

2015 marks the anniversary of the ending of the American Civil War. The Portsmouth Historical Society invites you to a presentation on the Civil War Sanitary Commission by Gerry Burgess of Battery “B” of the 1st Rhode Island Light Artillery. Battery “B” operated during the American Civil War from 1861 to 1864. She will have artifacts and replicas of artifacts on display. This event is free and open to the public. Come to the Portsmouth Historical Society building, Monday - June 15th. After a brief general meeting at 7 PM, the presentation will begin. Refreshment sfollow
