Common Fence Music Elects Ted Czech of Portsmouth as President

Common Fence Music announces a new president for its 19th season.

, a non-profit organization in its 19th year of bringing folk and roots music to Newport County and nearby locales, has elected Ted Czech of Portsmouth as president.

Tom Perrotti, past president, will retain the musical director position and will remain on the board.

Czech, a Navy veteran, retired from a long career in federal contracting in 2007 and currently is the financial director for Newport Tourist Products, LLC.

Also, he serves as an elected tax assessor for the and a member of the Portsmouth Planning Board and the Portsmouth Charter Review Committee.

Ted and his wife Betty Ann have attended Common Fence Music concerts since they began. He invites both long-time CFM supporters and new fans to check out the 20 season shows soon to be posted this month at www.commonfencemusic.org.

Common Fence Music will kick off the season on Sept. 17 with Aztec Two-Step at the Common Fence Point Community Hall in Portsmouth.

This season’s line-up includes folk and roots favorites John Gorka, Ellis Paul, Catie Curtis, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, Cheryl Wheeler, and Dirk Powell and Riley Baugus.

Tom Rush will perform as part of the Common Fence Music at Channing Church mini-series on May 17, 2012 to conclude the season.

Among this season’s “Amazing Unknowns,” which Common Fence Music is able to present with support from RISCA, the Newport County Fund of the Rhode Island Foundation and individual members and supporters, are the folk/indie groups, Spring Standards and Ariana Gillis.
