Diabetes Education*

Visiting Nurse Services is holding two 4 week Diabetes Self Management Series this fall. The series are taught by a nurse, dietitian and pharmacist and include topics such as overview of diabetes, glucose monitoring, changing behaviors and setting goals, medications and preventing complications, understanding food labels, carbohydrate counting, basic meal planning and stress management.

Participants are encouraged to bring a support person with them to each class. VNS accepts most insurances and a sliding fee scale is available for those without insurance. No one will be turned away for inability to pay.

September 9,16,23 and 30 from 6-8 pm at the Little Compton Wellness Center and

October 8, 15, 22 and 29 from 6-8 pm at Newport Hospital

VNS also runs a FREE monthly support group at the Edward King House in Newport (no registration required).
