Diabetes Program Expands in Portsmouth

Southcoast Health System announces the expansion of its Southcoast Diabetes Management Program to the .

The Diabetes Management Program joins Southcoast rehabilitation services, radiology, laboratory and physician services at the Linden Tree site, located at 2444 East Main Road.

“We are pleased to bring the Southcoast Diabetes Management Program to the residents of Aquidneck Island,” said Jennifer Randall, director of Southcoast Rehabilitation Services. “Now conveniently located in Portsmouth, our program is certified by the American Diabetes Association and offers those living with diabetes the knowledge and skills they need to manage their condition more successfully.”

Southcoast will offer educational lectures on topics such as insulin pumps and glucose monitoring in addition to free screenings at the Portsmouth location throughout the year.

“Our program is offered on an outpatient basis and is beneficial to patients who have been newly diagnosed and those who have had diabetes for years,” said Gerri Santos, RN, EDE, Regional Team Leader of the Southcoast Diabetes Management Program. “In fact, the people who have had diabetes for years are usually the most surprised at how much they learn in this outpatient program.”
