Drama Club Presents "An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe"

The students at Portsmouth High are working on Robert Mason's adaptation of six Poe stories.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — A lot of readers know Edgar Allan Poe's short story, "The Cask of Amontillado." But what about "The System of Dr. Tarr and Professor Fether."

According to the reviews of Robert Mason's adaptation, "An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe," the lesser known tales also represent "Poe at his most horrifying."

The Portsmouth High School Drama Club is rehearsing to present the Mason play in November, according to Sheli Beck Silveria, the drama club adviser.

Some 32 students are involved in the production.

Show dates are Nov. 10,11 and 12 at 7 p.m. Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, cost $5 for students and seniors and $10 general admission.
