Driver Seriously Injured in Middle Road Crash

Responders had to use the Jaws of Life to extricate the victim, who was transported to the hospital with traumatic injuries.

A man was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with traumatic injuries Thursday night after a serious accident on Middle Road, according to the Portsmouth Fire Department.

The crash happened at around 10:11 p.m. near 507 Middle Road. The man was driving when he lost control, left the road and struck a telephone pole and tree. The car then veered back onto the road and struck another vehicle being driven by a woman who suffered minor injuries.

Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to extricate the man from his car and he was rushed to the hospital in less than 15 minutes after they first arrived at the scene.
