Early Dismissal for Portsmouth Students Thursday

Portsmouth students will be dismissed from school one hour early today due to the snow storm that has been delivering steady snow all day and will last until the evening.

All after school and evening activities have also been cancelled.

Meanwhile, a parking ban that went into effect last night remains in effect until further notice.

The snow Thursday has made for slippery conditions across Rhode Island, prompting many parents to wonder whether school should have been held in the first place.

The snow is expected to continue into tonight before gradual clearing after 8 p.m.,according to the National Weather Service.
