AARP is hosting a workshop on "walkability" in Portsmouth. At least four teams of volunteers will walk along East Main Road, starting around .
The workshop will begin on Aug. 1 at 9 a.m. with breakfast and registration at Atria Aquidneck Place, 125 Quaker Hill Lane. From 9:30 to 11 a.m., AARP will give presentations on AARP's strategy, including information about a town center status, bicycling initiatives on Aquidneck Island and a review of the walkability survey process.
At 11 a.m., AARP volunteers will “hit the streets” with survey teams. At noon, the teams will return for lunch and debriefing of what they observed.
