ecoRI at Portsmouth Free Public Library

Join ecoRI Public Works, the public outreach arm of ecoRI
News (ecoRI.org), on September 25 at 6:30pm at Portsmouth Free Public Library for an informative presentation concentrating on Rhode Island's new recycling program. The single-stream-recycling system, dubbed "Recycle Together RI," went online on June 7, 2012. The new system changes two major things about recycling in RI.

1. The new system allows residents and businesses to recycle more items than the old system allowed (i.e. plastic cups).

2. In most RI towns (but not Portsmouth), the new system allows residents and businesses to place all of their recyclables in one bin.

In addition to discussing the details of these changes, the presentation will highlight the large quantity of waste our society creates and offer suggestions for the most effective ways to reduce that waste. ecoRI Public Works will also answer individual questions about which items are recyclable and which are not.

This presentation is able to be brought to Portsmouth Free
Public Library free of charge thanks to sponsorships from The Rhode Island Foundation, Save the Bay, Waste Management, and URI.  Seating is limited so please stop by or call the Library at 683-9457 to sign up.
