Educator and author, Laura Backman will once again visit the Fall River Public Library, 104 North Main Street, Fall River, accompanied by her feathered friend, Lemon, during school vacation week, Wednesday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in the Main Library’s Meeting Room. Backman will read from her 2006 children’s picture book, "Lemon the Duck," which tells the true story of a brave little duckling and a classroom of caring, compassionate children.
Lemon was born with a neurological imbalance that prevents ducklings from standing or walking. The story follows Lemon from the very beginning, when she was born into a classroom of students who, after discovering her disability, do their best to care for her.
Together they learn to deal not only with her special needs, but come up with clever ways to help Lemon lead as normal and happy a life as possible.
