Library Book Club

Please join us for our book discussion group meeting at Portsmouth Free Public Library on Tuesday, September 21 at 6:30 PM.  Readers of all ages are invited to share their thoughts on Alan Bradley's Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.

In his wickedly brilliant first novel, Alan Bradley introduces one of the most precocious heroines in recent fiction: eleven-year-old Flavia de Luce, an aspiring chemist with a passion for poison. It is the summer of 1950—and a series of inexplicable events has struck Buckshaw, the decaying English mansion that Flavia's family calls home.  After a dead bird is found by their door and a dead body in the garden, Flavia sets out to solve the crime.

Books or audio books may be reserved using our web site's online library catalog at www.portsmouthlibrary.org or by calling the Library at 683-9457.  Refreshments will be served.
