Square Dancing with the Town Howlers

The Portsmouth Town Howlers, the oldest square dance club in New England, celebrating 60 years this October, meets on the second and fourth Friday of every month at the Senior Center. Dancing begins at 8 p.m.

The club caller is Jim Schell. Club cuers are Anna MacDougall and Mike Alexander.

Admission is $7 per person.

The following dances are scheduled for 2011: 

Jan. 14—Glow Worm Dance (Participants are asked to bring flashlights.

Jan. 28—Beginner's dance

Feb. 11—Wear Red dance (Participants are asked to wear red)

Feb. 25—Chinese New Year dance to celebrate "Year of the Rabbit"

March 11—Wearing of the Green dance (Participants are asked to wear green)

March 25—Food Pantry Dance

April 8—IRS Refund Night

May 13—Gamblers Tip

May 27—Red, White and Blue dance

June 10—Strawberry Shortcake dance (casual dress)

June 24—Ice cream sundaes will be served at this dance (casual dress)

July 8—Ethnic food and snacks will be served (casual dress)

July 22—Burgers and hot dogs will be served at 7 p.m. (casual dress)
