Funeral Arrangements Announced For Portsmouth High School Student

PORTSMOUTH, RI — The funeral arrangements have been announced for the Portsmouth High School student who died earlier this week. Connor Peckham, 18, was a popular student and member of the high school band. He was in Orlando with his classmates on a band trip to Disney World at the time of his death.

Visiting hours for Peckham's classmates, their parents, teachers, and other faculty of Portsmouth High School will be held on Sunday, April 7 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Connors Funeral Home at 55 West Main Rd. Additional visiting hours will be held for other family and friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Peckham will be buried on Monday, April 8 at Newport Memorial Park in Middletown following a funeral mass at St. Barnabus Catholic Church at 1697 East Main Rd at 10 a.m.

Peckham was a vibrant member of the Portsmouth High School Community, and was a amember of both the marching and symphonic bands, as well as the announcer for the school's unified basketball team, all while maintaining his status as an honor student.

"Connor was a spark; his spirit was indomitable," his obituary reads in part. "His teachers and peers will never forget his bright smile, his huge heart and his warm, gentle nature. Connor's strength, wisdom, and courage has touched so many lives, and he will forever be remembered by the Portsmouth High School community."

Instead of flowers, Peckham's family has requested that donations be made in his memory to The Muscular Dystrophy Association or to the Portsmouth High School Music Boosters. Checks can be mailed to the following addresses:
