Lantz, 75, of Portsmouth, died Monday afternoon at Rhode Island Hospital, nearly a week after being involved in a .Â

Lantz was driving a 1995 Ford north on Bristol Ferry Road around 6:48 p.m., when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2004 Dodge Ram truck driven by Kurt Andersen of Bristol. Lantz was heading to a Boy Scout troop meeting at the time.Â
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.Â

Those who were close to Lantz call him a "an institution with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in Rhode Island." WPRI 12 aired a special tribute to Lantz Tuesday night, displaying his contributions to Scouting in Rhode Island.Â
"We will miss him more than we can imagine," wrote Troop 82 Scoutmaster Justin Mostert in an e-mail.Â
