Funeral Mass for Late Scout Leader Norman Lantz Scheduled for Thursday

A funeral Mass for the late , a well-known Boy Scout leader who died Monday from injuries sustained in a car crash, has been scheduled for Thursday morning. 

His Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at . 

Lantz, 75, of Portsmouth, died Monday afternoon at Rhode Island Hospital, nearly a week after being involved in a . 

Lantz was driving a 1995 Ford north on Bristol Ferry Road around 6:48 p.m., when the vehicle collided head-on with a 2004 Dodge Ram truck driven by Kurt Andersen of Bristol. Lantz was heading to a Boy Scout troop meeting at the time. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. 

Those who were close to Lantz call him a "an institution with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts in Rhode Island." WPRI 12 aired a special tribute to Lantz Tuesday night, displaying his contributions to Scouting in Rhode Island. 

"We will miss him more than we can imagine," wrote Troop 82 Scoutmaster Justin Mostert in an e-mail.
