Get Out! Dance the Night Away, Eat Out or Enjoy the Musical Talent at Portsmouth High School
You don't have to go far to find fun this week. There's lots to do in and around Portsmouth, including an art exhibit opening right over at the Abbey and a concert at Portsmouth High School.
Whether you enjoy art, music, dance or like to eat (and who doesn't), there's a lot for you to enjoy in and around Portsmouth this weekend.
Here's a few different events to get you going, so get out there and have fun!
- Sculpture Exhibit Opening
When/Where: Â , 285 Corys Lane, Portsmouth, McEvoy Gallery in the McGuire Fine Arts Center, March 25, 6 to 8 p.m.
Why Go: Come see the work of a talented young artist. It's opening night of Victoria McGeoch's Solo Sculpture Exhibition. Victoria will exhibit new wax and bronze sculptures and highlights from the past four years, including an outdoor installation of welded steel figures. Light refreshments and drinks. Pricing: Free
- Newport and Bristol Restaurant Week
When/Where:Â Restaurants throughout Newport and Bristol County, March 25-April 3, lunch and dinner. Portsmouth's is participating.
Why Go: The week includes some special events, such as being a winemaker for a day at Sakonnet Vineyards. Also, at participating restaurants, you can enjoy a three-course lunch for $16 or a three-course dinner for $30 (not including beverages or gratuities). Many restaurants are participating; check the Web site for updates and you may want to call for reservations.
Pricing: Event prices vary; three-course lunch is $16, three-course dinner is $30. Gratuities and beverages not included.
- Variety Show at RWU
When/Where: Roger Williams University Performing Arts Center, 1 Old Ferry Road, Bristol, March 25-26, 7:30 p.m.
Why Go: It's a little bit of everything:Â This RWU Theatre event includes comedy, music and general entertainment, featuring two short plays: "Intermission" by Will Eno and "Sure Thing" by David Ives.
Pricing: Admission: $5, general; $5, seniors/students
When/Where: , 120 Education Ln, Portsmouth, March 29, 7-9 p.m.
Why Go: Beautiful music! The PHS Music Department presents its annual concert to benefit the Portsmouth Music Booster Scholarship Fund. Chorale and instrumental groups will perform.
Pricing: Admission is $5 for children and students, $8 for adults, with a maximum of $20 for a family.
- Dance the Night Away
When/Where:Â Friday, March 25, 6-9 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 300 High St., Bristol.
Why Go: Trip the light fantastic with the Roger Williams University Ballroom Dance club. They will teach waltz, swing, tango and merengue.
Pricing: $7 per person; $10 per couple
