Island Park, CFP Residents Should Be Ready To Move

The Town of Portsmouth is issuing a Code Red Alert to all residents.

A severe weather alert is being issued for an impending storm with Tropical Force Winds which is forecasted to hit our area starting early on Monday, Oct. 28, and lasting into late Tuesday.

Regional Shelters are being opened at the Gaudet Middle School in Middletown and the Tiverton Middle School in Tiverton. Pets are not allowed. The shelters will open at 5 p.m. on Sunday. 

The State of Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency is advising that potential flooding and power outages are expected.

As a precautionary measure, the town of Portsmouth is advising that the residents of Island Park, Common Fence Point and other low lying areas where possible flooding may occur should be prepared to move to higher ground.

All residents are urged to take necessary precautions for possible power outages and flooding. All residents should be tuning into their local news and radio stations for up to date storm information along with special information on the Portsmouthemergency.com web site and follow us on Facebook and Twitter. 

Portsmouth Schools will be closed on Monday. Portsmouth Town Hall will remain open during normal business hours as the weather dictates.
