Life of the Mind Salon: Ted Widmer

Author Ted Widmer, will speak on his new book, Brown: The History of an Idea at the Redwood Library on September 30 from 5:30-7:00pm.

The 2015 Fall Life of the Mind Salon Series begins on September 30 with author Ted Widmer, who will speak on his new book, Brown: The History of an Idea.

Widmer was Assistant to the President for Special Projects at Brown University and Director of the John Carter Brown Library. He was a speechwriter for President Clinton and from 2012 to 2013 was a Senior Adviser to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He grew up in Rhode Island and attended Harvard University. He has written widely on American history, profiling important Americans such as Roger Williams and John F. Kennedy. He writes a monthly column on the history of New England for the Boston Globe.

Wine and cheese will be served at 5:30 pm followed by the talk at 6:00 pm. Free for members; $10 for non-members. Please call the Redwood Reservation Line at 401.847.0292, ext. 112, to reserve your spot. Seating is limited.
