Local Eighth Graders Win People's Credit Union Scholarships
The students hail from Newport, Portsmouth, Middletown, Bristol and North Kingstown. Congrats!

MIDDLETOWN, RI—People's Credit Union announced the recipients of this year's 8th Grade Scholarship—a $1,000 monetary gift that they'll get four years from now upon high school graduation.
The five recipients are Abigail Mosher of Newport, Amy Flynn of Middletown, Luke Jackson of Portsmouth, Cassidy Estrella Mello of Bristol, and Luke Dolan of North Kingstown. The scholarships were awarded based on school involvement, community involvement, and the answer to an essay question. Each of the scholarship recipients will receive $1,000 upon completion of their senior year of high school.
People’s Credit Union was also happy to award Meaghan Murray of Narragansett with a scholarship from the Credit Unions of Rhode Island through the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA). Meaghan was selected from hundreds of applicants submitted to credit unions throughout Rhode Island. Applicants were evaluated on a variety of criteria including students’ academic performance, financial need, extracurricular activities, and an essay addressing the applicant’s intended field of study and career goals.
