Round-the-World by Motorcycle

Come and meet Nigel and Sharyn Tailyour this Saturday at Portsmouth Town hall at 10:30 AM. Hear about their round-the-world trip by motorcycle that started from our namesake city Portsmouth, England in April.

Nigel and Sharyn Tailyour left Portsmouth, England earlier this year on a round-the-world trip for the benefit of their local Portsmouth area “Samaritans” organization to raise awareness and funds for their Night Owl “Hotline” project for people in distress there. After having traveled by motorcycle (and train) across Russia and Asia, they are now traveling cross-country by motorcycle in the USA starting from San Francisco and along the way have visited Portsmouth, OH and Portsmouth, VA. After their visit here in RI they will travel to Portsmouth, NH for a final stop before returning to their home in England later this year.

At the Special Town Council meeting on Saturday at 10:30 AM they will deliver a letter of greeting from former Lord Mayor Lynne Stagg of Portsmouth, England and recount some of the highlights of their journey. Then they will receive a proclamation of greeting from our TC president Jim Seveney along with a letter to deliver to Councillor Stagg upon their return. The TC meeting is open to the public. After the TC meeting they will be taken on a tour of Portsmouth historical locations by volunteers from the Portsmouth 375th legacy group, ending up at the Greenvale Vineyards for an afternoon of music before heading back upstate.
