Neil Ross honored at Eagle Court of Honor
Portsmouth High School Grad 134th Eagle Scout in Troop 82 History

Boy Scout Troop 82, sponsored by Saint Mary’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, RI, awarded Neil Ross the rank of Eagle Scout at a Court of Honor held on August 16, 2015 at Aquidneck Pizza and Restaurant in Middletown. Neil Ross, the son of David and Kelly Ross of Portsmouth, is the first to achieve Eagle Scout in his family.
Neil completed his Eagle Scout requirements in April 2015, culminating with a project which benefits Aquidneck Island residents and visitors of Portsmouth’s Melville Campgrounds. Neil planned and led a team of boy scout volunteers in the building and installation of two boardwalk spans on a Melville Campground hiking trail in Portsmouth. Funding for this project was provided by the Melville Committee.
Starting his scouting career as a Wolf Cub Scout, Neil has been actively involved in scouting for 10 years. Demonstrating strong leadership skills, Neil held the elected positions of Quartermaster, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. He has been honored with the Arrow of Light, Boy Scout’s Order of the Arrow, National Youth Leadership Training (formerly known as White Stag), the Edward R. Judge Scoutmaster Award in 2011, the 2013 CPL Thomas A. Julian Award, the USMC Leadership Award and also led Troop 82 as Senior Patrol Leader in achieving Troop of the Week Spirit Award during summer boy scout camp at Yawgoo.

A 2015 Portsmouth High School graduate, Neil was active in the Portsmouth High School Band a member of the Drum Line. Neil also was a talented member of the Portsmouth High School Jazz Band. Currently Neil is a freshman attending American University in Washington, DC.
