NH AG: Autopsy Shows Son Asphyxiated His Mother, Then Shot Himself

The bodies of Eileen Shevelin, 78, and Thomas Wallace, 57, were discovered dead inside their home in Dover on May 26.

CONCORD, NH — Attorney General John M. Formella and Dover Police Chief David A. Terlemezian announce that autopsies have been completed on the bodies of Eileen Shevelin (age 78) and Thomas Wallace (age 57), which were discovered inside their home in Dover on Tuesday May 26, 2026.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner conducted autopsies today on both Eileen Shevelin and Thomas Wallace. The Office determined that Eileen Shevelin’s cause of death was asphyxiation, and her manner of death is homicide. The Office determined that Thomas Wallace’s cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death is suicide.

Based upon the information available at this time, it appears that between May 25th and May 26, 2026, Thomas Wallace asphyxiated his mother and then took his own life using a handgun while they were inside the home.
