No Cars Allowed: Portsmouth Farm-To-Farm Bike Ride Coming May 11
The free event runs past six family farms on Middle Road from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

PORTSMOUTH, RI — On Saturday, May 11, Middle Road in Portsmouth will close to traffic for three hours to allow families to enjoy a bike ride to six of the town's local farms. The Second Annual Portsmouth Farm-To-Farm Bike Ride will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. During that time, families will be able to safely bike along the four-mile stretch without having to worry about cars on the road.
Parking for the free event will be available behind the Portsmouth School Administration Building at 29 Middle Rd. Registration and the starting line will be behind Escobar's Farmhouse Inn at 133 Middle Rd.
The route runs two miles down Middle Road then turns around at Benjamin Drive, near 897 Middle Rd. There are six family farms along the route: Escobar farms, DeArruda Farm, Quonset View Farm, Portsmouth Nursery, BAW Farm and DeCastro Farms.

Volunteers and from Bike Newport, RI will help ensure safety with bike checks and helmet fittings.
Food will be available for purchase at the registration area starting at 11 a.m. from vendors including Flat Waves Food Shack, Red's Rhode Island, Rhody Roots and My Rolling Cafe.

For those not interested in biking, Clean Ocean Access will be holding a volunteer roadside cleanup.
