Obituary: Jeannette E. Collard, 96

Jeannette E. Collard died peacefully on February 18, 2015 at the Village House Nursing Center in Newport. She was the wife of the late Adelard R. Collard. Jeannette was born in Fall River MA and began her working career at the Torpedo Station in Newport. She then moved on to Woolworth’s 5&10 and ended her career in 1980 working for the A&A Company.

She moved to Portsmouth in 1960 and loved being close to the beach and Flo’s Drive In. She enjoyed bingo and cards with her friends, including Jane Perreault and Eunice Lemieux.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Giblin and her husband Dan of Portsmouth, Linda Pierce and her husband John of Portsmouth, and 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Elsie Duarte of Taunton, MA, and is predeceased by her brothers Joseph Liberty and James Moore.

Jeannette’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of the Village House for their outstanding love and care.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 20 from 5:00-8:00pm in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd, Portsmouth. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, February 21 at 9:30AM in the Connors Funeral Home. Burial will follow Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River.
