Obituary: Manuel D. Ventura, 92

Manuel Duarte Ventura, Jr., 92, of North Kingstown, formerly of Island Park, Portsmouth, died Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Roberts Health Center in North Kingstown.

Manuel was born May 28, 1923 in Fall River, MA the son of the late Manuel Silva Ventura and Anna (Duarte) Ventura. He was the husband of the late Delia (Raposa) Ventura.

Manuel served honorably in the US Army during WWII in the European. He was a medic in the 3rd Artillery, 8th Armored Division. Before his retirement, he managed Tremblay’s Island Park Café in Portsmouth for over 30 years.

He is survived by his brother, John Ventura of Philadelphia, PA, his nieces, Marlene Galitskie and her husband Paul of North Kingstown, Gail Ficazzola and her husband Rocco of Warwick, Linda Stemerick of Sun City Center, FL, his nephew Leonard Degollado and his wife Myra of Silver Spring, MD, niece Donna Johnson and her husband Tracy of Lakewood Ranch, FL, nephew Daniel Degollado and his wife Lori of Chesapeake Beach, MD. He was the great uncle to Warren, Christina, Lauren, Brooke and Tony and great-great uncle to Liam, Ronson, Allyson and Juliana.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth.

His funeral was held on Friday, October 2, 2015, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial with military honors was in Trinity Cemetery, Portsmouth.
