PHOTOS: Portsmouth Fire Department Displays New Engines to Public

The Portsmouth Fire Department held an open house this Sunday.

The held an open house this past Sunday. 

Featured above are photos from the event. Children toured the facilities, learned about fire prevention and saw the trucks leave for an actual 911 call!

Built in May of 2011, the two new fire engines are equipped as “rescue pumpers." They are equipped with 2,000 gallon per minute pumps, Class A foam for structural firefighting, Class B foam for flammable liquid fires, and a variety of ladders.

They also carry a full complement of medical equipment: oxygen, medications, splints, back boards, and much more. They also are equipped with on-board generators to power over 2,000 watts of lighting and the on-board hydraulic pump for the Jaws of Life.
