PHOTOS: Naval War College Commemorates Sept. 11
Patriots Park in Newport was a scene of somber reflection and remembrance.
The U.S. Naval War College in Newport was the somber scene of tribute, respect and memorial on Friday, Sept. 11.
The ceremony was an opportunity to pay tribute to those who served and lost their lives on that tragic day that will never be forgotten, including NWC students an alumni.
The ceremony was held at the war college’s Patriots Memorial in Newport.

The ceremony featured the playing of ”Taps” by Musician 1st Class Michael Buenvenida, assigned to Navy Band Northeast; the sounding of a bell and a wreath laying.
Officials took turns rendering honors to those who died while facing a plaque mounted on a broken fragment of limestone from the Pentagon’s west facade.
