PINK SUNDAY - Sunday, March 6th

Portsmouth United Methodist Church 2732 EAST MAIN ROAD Portsmouth, RI 02871 Office: 401-683-4005 PortsmouthUMC@gmail.com www.pumcri.org

Please join us!! For at least the past 30 years, our community has celebrated PINK SUNDAY in the middle of the Lenten Season. You can Google Laetare Sunday and learn that this tradition goes back into the middle ages in the Catholic Church. (I’m not sure if it is before or after Martin Luther) The pink reminds us that in the midst of this Lenten Season when we are reflecting on our spiritual lives, that it is all right to take a break and look forward to the joy that will be ours on Easter morning. We have the same use of pink during the Advent season as there are 3 purple candles and a pink one!
So---- come March 6th , come to church wearing some pink – a tie, shirt, blouse, jacket, scarf, dress, etc…The possibilities are endless!!
