Police Charge Man With 8 Counts of Child Molestation

Man charged with several counts of child molestation, sexual assault 

A Pawtucket man was charged this week with several counts of child molestation and sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl.

Pawtucket police first contacted Portsmouth detectives about an alleged sexual assault that occurred in town in August 2010 and 2011.

The victim, a 13-year-old Lincoln girl, was staying at a summer event in Portsmouth at the time.

After their investigation, Portsmouth police charged John Beauliea, 38, of Pawtucket, with two counts of second degree child molestation and one count of third-degree sexual assault. 

Beauliea is also being charged by Pawtucket police with six counts of child molestation, according to "The Providence Journal."

He is accused of molesting the girl, who is now 15, as well as taking topless photos of the girl for several years. 

Beauliea was brought to district court on Sept. 4 and later ordered back to the Adult Correctional Institutions. 

Newport teen charged with DUI

A 17-year-old Newport boy was arrested on Sept. 3 and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) after a vehicle stop on East Main Road. The vehicle was stopped for allegedly speeding. 

Police say they detected an aroma of alcohol on the driver. The teen apparently failed a field sobriety test and later refused a chemical test at police headquarters. 

He was also charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was released to the custody of a parent. 

Tiverton man charged with DUI

Keith Costa, 31, of Tiverton, was arrested on Sept. 6 at 1:30 a.m. after a motor vehicle stop on Boyd's Lane. 

The vehicle was stopped after seen exceeding the speed limit and crossing over yellow lines on the Mount Hope Bridge. 

Police say they detected an aroma of alcohol on the operator. Costa apparently failed a field sobriety test and later refused a chemical test at the station. 

He was also charged with refusal to submit to a chemical test.
