Police Log: Ball Field Damaged, Deer Put Down, Warrants Galore
The following arrest and incident information was provided by the Portsmouth Police Department.

DOMESTIC
Police charged Dana Maria Lyons, 43, of 55 Adams Drive, Portsmouth, with domestic simple assault and domestic vandalism Dec. 31 at 7:42 p.m.
Police said they responded to a report of a domestic disturbance and after an investigation, determined that Lyons caused damage to a vehicle and assaulted another person during an argument.
She was arraigned and later released on $2,000 surety bail.

FIELD DAMAGED
Someone drove onto the ball fields at Portsmouth Middle School and caused damage to the grass, police said.
The incident was reported by a school department employee on Dec. 29, police said.

The car left tire marks on the grass. Police documented the incident.
POTHOLE DAMAGE
On Dec, 29, a Highland Avenue resident told police that she got a flat tire and her rim was damaged while driving north on West Main Road near Prescott Point.
The woman told police that the road was in disrepair.
DEER PUT DOWN
Police had to euthanize a deer in distress on Jan. 3 at the Raytheon facility on West Main Road.
Police said they were dispatched at around 5:55 a.m. and found an injured deer near a Dumpster.
The deer was trying to flee but unable to stand. It was panting and appeared to have a head injury, police said.
“It was obvious that the animal was in distress and would need to be euthanized,” a police report stated.
The animal was dispatched with one shot from an officers’ service weapon.
The state Department of Environmental Management was notified.
WARRANTS
Police charged Shawn Preston Myers, 41, of 80 Japonicn St., Pawtucket, with a warrant Jan. 2 at 11:40 a.m.
Myers was a passenger in a car stopped for an expired inspection sticker on West Main Road, according to a police report. A routine check of his information showed an active warrant for failing to appear in Third Division District Court.
Police charged Jennifer Leigh Dawson, 28, of 1 Dubois St., Portsmouth, with a warrant Jan. 1 at 6:58 p.m.
Police said an officer with knowledge of the active Second Division District Court warrant was on routine patrol near Dubois and Perrault Streets when he saw Dawson walking into her apartment complex. She was taken into custody without incident.
Police charged James Joseph Cotta, 51, of 3 North Drive, Portsmouth, with a warrant Jan. 1 at 8:48 p.m.
Police said Cotta was stopped on Bristol Ferry Road for a loud muffler. Police said the warrant was for failing to appear in court.
Police charged Dennis Wayne Torres, 25, of 2749 East Main Road, Portsmouth, with a warrant Jan. 2 at 3:35 a.m.
Torres was arrested without incident following an investigation into a possible motor vehicle theft.
Torres had reportedly used another person’s car and failed to return it when he said he’d be back.
Torres did eventually return the car, but by then, police learned that there was an active Sixth Division District Court bench warrant for his arrest.
Police charged Jorge Antonio Schoen-Cruz, 36, of 576 Park Ave., Portsmouth, with a warrant Dec. 31 at 5:17 p.m.
Police said Schoen-Cruz was a passenger in a car parked at the Teddy’s Beach entrance when an officer stopped to check it out.
The officer discovered Schoen-Cruz had an active Second Division District Court warrant and was taken into custody without incident.
