Police Log: Domestic Assault Charges

While nearby Middletown and Newport Police had rather busy weekends — including 22 arrests in Newport — reported two arrests over the past couple days, both on domestic charges:

Ian Stone, 35, of East Main Road, Portsmouth, was charged with felony domestic assault after police responded to a disturbance at the home. Stone, while arguing with a 32-year-old Portsmouth woman, allegedly grabbed "a large knife and approached the woman holding the knife in a threatening manner," according to reports.Stone was arraigned by a justice of the peace and released.

Leonard Santos, 28, of Park Avenue in Portsmouth, was charged with domestic simple assault after allegedly shoving a 34-year-old Portsmouth woman during an argument. Santos was arraigned and released.
