Police Log: Fall River Man Allegedly Drove In Wrong Lane, Carried Knife

Fall River man allegedly drives in wrong lane, later found with knife
Jerry Lynch, 34, of Fall River, MA, was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police received several phone calls about a vehicle operating erratically on East Main Road.

Police received several 911 calls around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. A vehicle was seen operating erratically north on East Main Road. The vehicle was seen crossing over the center yellow lines into the southbound lane.
The vehicle was last seen turning onto Vanderbilt Lane. Police later spotted the vehicle's operator, Lynch, standing outside the parked car checking on a flat tire.

Police say they detected an aroma of alcohol on the driver. They also observed a knife with a five-inch blade in Lynch's pocket.
Lynch apparently failed a field sobriety test and was later transported to Newport Hospital for a blood test.
He was charged with driving under the influence and possession of a weapon other than a firearm.
Lynch was later released after appearing before a justice of the peace.
Portsmouth man allegedly yells obscenities at fellow driver
A Portsmouth man was arrested on a warrant Wednesday for allegedly yelling obscenities at a woman while driving on Route 24.
Thomas Butz, 37, of 9 Birchwood Drive, Portsmouth, was arrested Wednesday at 1 a.m. Butz was wanted for allegedly violating a protective order.
The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred on May 31.
A 31-year-old Central Falls woman, who knew the suspect, was apparently driving on Route 24 North around 5:30 p.m. Butz, who was in another car, allegedly pulled up to the woman's car and yelled obscenities through the window.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Butz. Warren police arrested him Wednesday night.
