Police Log: Man Allegedly Steals Natural Gems, Stones

Portsmouth police made the following arrests in past few days.
Man allegedly steals natural gems
John Moniz, 55, of Bristol, was arrested on Sept. 18 after turning himself in at the police station.

Moniz's arrest stems from a complaint filed by the owners of Natures!, a Chase Road business. The Natures! owners claimed certain minerals and gems, including Moldavite, were missing from the store.
An investigation led police to Moniz, a former employee of the store. Police issued an affidavit arrest warrant for the Bristol resident.

Moniz was arrested on Sept. 18 and charged with larceny under $1,500.
Middletown man arrested at Bay View Apartments
James Rainville, 36, of Middletown, was arrested on Sept. 18 and turned over to Middletown police. Rainville was wanted by Middletown police on an unknown charge.
Portsmouth police were called to the Bay View Apartments for a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. A check on the vehicle's passengers revealed Rainville was wanted on a warrant.
He was arrested at the scene and turned over to Middletown police.
