Police Log: Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Kids With Air Gun

Man allegedly shoots kids with pellet gun

The state Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is investigating what caused a 21-year-old man to allegedly shoot two young children with a pellet gun, according to police.

, 21, of 21 Easton Ave., was arrested Thursday at 1 a.m. and charged with two counts of simple assault. 

The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Jan. 5, when Correia allegedly became involved in an argument with two boys, ages 6 and 9, inside a Portsmouth house. During the argument, Correia allegedly shot each boy with an airsoft gun, also known as a pellet gun, leaving a mark on their skin.

DCYF alerted police to the incident. Police say Correia knew the victims, but the incident is not domestic. 

At the same time Thursday, police also arrested 22-year-old Robert House of 97 Massasoit Ave. House was charged with one count of simple assault. 

Police say House became involved in an argument with a 15-year-old boy. During the argument, House allegedly picked up the teen and "slammed him into a sheet rock wall," said Lt. Brian Peters. 

Both House and Correia were arrested at the same time by Bristol police and later turned over to the custody of Portsmouth police. 

Driving in circles, literally, leads to arrest 

A Portsmouth man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly drove a vehicle in circles around a pine tree at . 

Philip Duckett, 18, of 470 Sandy Point Ave., was arrested around 2 p.m. after the vehicle he was operating was stopped on East Main Road near Glen Road. The vehicle matched a description provided by a witness. 

The witness told police they observed a vehicle drive on the grass at Glen Park and spin its tires, causing the vehicle to dig ruts into the ground. The vehicle then circled a pine tree before driving away. 

Duckett was arrested and charged with vandalism. He was released with a court summons. 

Portsmouth woman arrested after allegedly pushing man

Michele Lefort, 42, of 827 Anthony Road, was arrested Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and charged with domestic, simple assault. 

Lefort allegedly became involved in an argument with a 42-year-old Portsmouth man. During the argument, she allegedly pushed him, causing him to trip over luggage on the floor and fall. 

Lefort was arrested at her home and transported to district court for arraignment.
